01 Overview

Tampa is the coast-to-coast move — you start on the Atlantic side in Lake Worth and finish on the Gulf. It is one of our most-requested cross-state runs, and we handle it the same way we handle every job: our own truck, our own crew, the same faces loading in Palm Beach County and unloading on Tampa Bay.

Leaving Florida for good? Palm Beach County moving crew keeps the whole haul on one truck with one crew, the price locked in writing before we load.

The drive: across the peninsula on I-95 and I-4

We head north out of Lake Worth on I-95, cut inland on I-4 through the center of the state, and roll into the Tampa Bay area roughly 200 miles later. It is a clean two-interstate route, and because it is a day trip we load at first light to beat the summer heat and the afternoon thunderstorms that build over the interior.

Why people cross to the Gulf side

  • Retirees who prefer Tampa Bay’s calmer Gulf water and bayfront 55-plus communities.
  • Professionals relocating for finance, healthcare, and port jobs around the bay.
  • South Florida families wanting more home for the money on the west coast.
  • Snowbirds shifting their winter base from the Atlantic to the Gulf.

What is different on the Gulf coast

The Gulf side runs a little warmer and stickier in summer, with the same June-to-November wet season and an Atlantic-and-Gulf hurricane watch. Tampa’s housing leans toward bungalows in the older urban neighborhoods and sprawling master-planned subdivisions in the suburbs, a change from Lake Worth’s tile-roof CBS ranches and oceanfront high-rises.

The flat rate, the way we do it

We inventory your home room by room, note any high-rise dock windows or COI requirements on the Tampa end, and quote one binding number. To lock the date we collect $115, which is then credited to your bill. Protection starts at $0.60 per pound released value, with full-value coverage and up to $1,000,000 cargo coverage per shipment available.

02 Why us

Whatever name is painted on the truck is the same name signed on your contract

Book Sawgrass and the truck at your curb is ours, the paperwork is ours, and the bilingual crew wheeling your sofa onto the condo freight elevator draws a Palm Beach County paycheck from us — your move is never sold off. A broker runs the opposite way: they shop your job to whoever underbids that week, then vanish from the picture.

Sawgrass Moving and Relocation
  • The trucks belong to us and so do the full-time, background-checked movers riding in them — we never staff a job with day labor scraped off a listing board
  • Whatever figure we put on paper is the figure you settle — locked in, signed, and exact to the dollar
  • One unchanged crew, from the first box hoisted onto the truck to the last one carried through your new door
  • Florida (FDACS) intrastate moving registration, USDOT/MC on the books for interstate runs, and every single job backed by full insurance and up to $1,000,000 in cargo coverage
  • One Lake Worth office and one point of contact, from your first call to the last box set down
What a broker does
  • Hands your move off to whatever outfit happens to undercut the rest that week
  • Allows the price to balloon the day of the move, padded with extras that were never raised beforehand
  • Sends a crew you have not exchanged a single word with up your staircase, your whole household in their hands
  • Keeps it vague about which insurance policy actually covers a TV that hits the floor
  • Stands a call center in your way, so reaching whoever eventually turns up to load is a maze

Questions we hear about this route

Can a Lake Worth to Tampa move finish in one day?
Almost always, yes. We cross the peninsula on I-95 and I-4 — about 200 miles coast to coast — so a dawn load in Palm Beach County usually has us unloading in the Tampa Bay area by late afternoon. Only the largest four-plus-bedroom homes occasionally roll into a second day.
Do you store our things if the Tampa closing slips?
Yes. Florida closings drift, especially in season. We can hold your shipment in secure short-term storage and redeliver to Tampa when your keys are ready, so you are never paying to rush a move-in that is not finished.
Why does the same home cost more to Tampa than to Orlando?
Distance. Tampa is a longer cross-state haul than Orlando, so the line-haul portion of the flat rate is higher. Everything else — bedroom count, weight, stairs, elevator reservations — follows the same logic on both routes.
